아름다운 제주의 풍미 속에 조각과 공간을 이동하면서 3차원 공간의 소설을 읽듯 체험으로‘Memorial’이 완성된다. 이러한 취지는 대상지의 올록볼록한 초지경관의 보존과 활용으로 이어진다. 어디에서도 대상지는 한눈에 들어오지 않아 위협적이거나 권위적이지 않으며 걸으면서 체험하는 이야기 구조에 어울리는 경관이 연출된다. 

초지의 보존이 가장 중요한 의미를갖는다. 현재의 초지는 시간성을 가지는 상징적 경관이며, 그 자체로 아름다운 휴식공간이자 공연과 축제, 행사의 장이 되고, 가고 싶은 곳은 어디든 초지를 통해 이동하는 자유로운 동선이 됨으로써 가변적이며 평화롭고 민주적인 공간구성의 바탕이 된다.

The objective of the park was to go beyond purposes of commemorating and honoring, and create an atmosphere that represents peace, human rights and freedom.

By allowing the sculpture and space to move, it creates a space of memorial by allowing visitors to experience a three-dimentional space while reading each person’s story. Such purpose continues on to the preservation and application of the bumpy grass field.

The entire park cannot be viewed in one glance making it not threatening or authoritative, and it creates harmonious scenery that is suitable for walking and experiencing.

Also, preservation of the grass field symbolizes time, and it is a peaceful place for rest, performance, festivals and events. The free path of flow that connects through the field is versatile, peaceful and becomes a foundation for a democratic place.
